I have a big lump in my left breast and I’m suffering in pain for years already. It was only last year, month of February, when I decided to consult a doctor. I underwent ultrasound but there was nothing serious [as I suspected], only fibroadenoma. But I was scheduled for constant monitoring (every 6 months).
On my third ultrasound, I was sent for biopsy, not only for one lump but also for a new lump forming in my left breast. It was the moment that I felt so worried about. I cannot help but think about the possibility of cancer. Until now I can remember all the pain I went through on that day. The good news lumps in my breast are not cancerous. But I still have to undergo ultrasound after a year.
With my experience plus knowing that lots of women are suffering from this deadly illness, I support the Breast Cancer Awareness program. The campaign is actually done yearly on the month of October. There are many steps to help this program. One is fundraising such as selling stuff, usually in pink color with the pink ribbon logo like Pen Factory breast cancer pens, letter opener, luggage tag, to name a few.
I believe the importance of this awareness program as it saves hundreds of people by taking right actions to prevent breast cancer as well as to increase the rate of breast cancer survivor.
To help spread about this campaign, check your local health unit about the activities that will be done or check online like the nationalbreastcancer.org to see how you can help.
